Kidney And Pancreas Transplant
In our country, the number of patients with chronic kidney failure is around 40 thousand. Kidney transplantation is performed in only 3% of these patients every year. The most important reason for the low number of transplants is the difficulty in finding donors and the inadequacy of transplant centers. As Yeni Yüzyıl University Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital, Kidney Transplant Center, we provide services with the most technologically advanced equipment and experienced physicians in order to help people who are on dialysis and who have had difficulties in the struggle for life.
In Yeni Yüzyıl University Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital Kidney Transplant Center, more than 2000 transplants have been performed since December 2007 and a success rate of 98% has been achieved. Our center is located in the first row of Kidney Transplantation in Turkey in the area serving patients experienced transplant team.
In our center, preparations before organ transplantation are completed in a short period of 3-4 days with the devoted work of all departments of the hospital, and if the patient does not have an obstacle for transplantation, the transplantation process is performed immediately.
Liver Transplant
The liver is the largest internal organ of our body, with more than 400 functions. Among its tasks: to synthesize important constituents such as cholesterol, phospholipids, coagulation factors, especially proteins, to secrete bile, to cleanse the body from many chemicals and drugs, to regulate the immune system and to regulate blood sugar levels. Many acute and chronic diseases affecting the liver can affect these vital functions irreversibly. In the following cases that cannot be treated with the possibilities of modern medicine, the organ that cannot perform its function with liver transplantation must be replaced with a new liver. Nowadays, with a better understanding of liver anatomy, advances in medical and surgical treatments, liver transplantation is performed with a 98% success rate if it is performed on time.
Main liver transplant indications:
- Chronic liver disease (B and C due to diseases such as hepatitis, alcohol and biliary cirrhosis)
- Acute liver failure (as a result of fungal and drug poisoning)
- In unresectable liver tumor (hepatocellular carcinoma) and some benign tumors
- Metabolic diseases
- Massive liver injury
- Parasitic infestations
For patients, who are decided to have liver transplantation, the necessary organ should be primarily through donated organs after brain death. However, in cases where the demand cannot be met by donation, live donor transfers are made from relatives up to the fourth degree as in other transplants. 70% of the livers of living donors selected from completely healthy individuals can be taken for transplantation. Postoperative bleeding, vascular and biliary tract problems, and infections are important complications. As a result, patients whose timing for liver transplantation is well adjusted can return to their lives in a completely healthy way after a successful period of surgery.
Heart Transplant
Heart transplantation can be performed for patients who cannot meet the needs of our body, whose pumping power is exhausted, who are not able to perform other cardiac surgery or cardiological interventions, who receive very intense medical support treatment, who have months, weeks, or even days to survive.
Generally, these patients are the patients who have frequently applied to their doctor due to heart problems and even hospitalized frequently. Or, these patients may have had a previous heart operation, one or more of the cardiological interventions may have been performed. They may have just gotten sick. These and similar patients, that is, these patients who are undergoing treatment with heart failure, are examined in terms of heart transplantation and mechanical heart support systems. These reviews are very detailed.
Heart Transplant Process
It is a race against the clock. Two teams are required. The task of the first team is to go to the donor hospital, to ensure the suitability of the donor and to remove the donor heart in accordance with the process, to protect its vitality and to deliver it to the heart transplant center operating room as quickly as possible. These stages are coordinated by specially trained heart center coordinators. The heart, which has been delivered to the heart transplant center, is impatient to regain its new body. The time spent in the ultra-modern operating room is completed by using all the opportunities of open heart surgery. The first heartbeats that start in the new body are the greatest gift for the team.
